Steal a Brainrot Stealing & Base Defence Guide

The rules that decide every steal

  • A base starts with a 60-second lock. Each rebirth adds +10 seconds, and the VIP gamepass adds another 10.
  • Gear cannot be used while holding a brainrot. A thief mid-carry cannot slap, trap or coil.
  • Hitting a carrier returns the brainrot to its slot. The default Bat does this; the Slap does it with more reach.
  • Brainrots that are still walking to a base can be bought out from under you for 150% of base cost — the carpet is contested before ownership even begins.

Put together, those rules mean the defender wins any fight they turn up to. Stealing is about arriving when nobody is home, not about winning a duel.

Stealing well

  1. Pick the base, not the brainrot. A high-income brainrot on floor one of an unattended base is worth more attempts than a better one on the third floor of a base with someone standing in it.
  2. Bring mobility, not weapons. Speed Coil and the jump coils shorten the carry, which is the only window where you are helpless.
  3. Know the layout. Upper floors cost time on the way in and on the way out. If the owner returns, you lose everything you were carrying.
  4. Use the announcement. When the server is told a Secret spawned, half the lobby is at the carpet — that is the moment other bases are empty.

Defending well

  1. Height first. Park your Secrets as high as your base allows and leave cheap earners on floor one as bait.
  2. Traps at the entrance. Traps freeze a thief for seven seconds, and you can only have five between the map and your inventory, so place them where the path narrows.
  3. Keep a Slap equipped by default. Not for damage — for the return effect.
  4. Rebirth for the lock, not just the multiplier. Ten extra seconds per rebirth compounds into a lock most opportunists will not wait out.
  5. Consider a private server during Admin Abuse, when everyone is holding something valuable and servers are full of people looking for it.

What no strategy fixes

If you are being farmed repeatedly by a much stronger player, the answer is a different server, not a better arrangement. The game does not have an anti-grief mechanic beyond the lock timer, which is why the late gear unlocks lean towards disabling other players rather than out-damaging them.
